Indi Golf uses the tagline of “Kings of Spin” and offers wedges with both conforming and non-conforming grooves. An “illegal” or “non-conforming” wedge is essentially one that fails to meet one or more of these criteria. For example, it might have grooves that are too deep or too close together, or it could feature design elements intended to increase spin beyond what is considered acceptable by the USGA and R&A.

Once I saw the numbers, I could not wait to get them out on the course and see how they would play in the real world. They did not disappoint. At a shot level around the green, only 2/7 previous rounds with the 60* resulted in positive Strokes Gained totals with that club vs my benchmark. Of these 7 rounds, they were all played on different courses in 2 different provinces and in Florida across multiple golf trips. I have not found anything to support their spin royalty claims as spin is comparable/lower to that of major OEMs but distance control and consistency on mishits appears to exceed.“

Willie T “For someone looking for a great wedge that is not flashy, that doesn’t bury you in a myriad of sole grinds, that is super reasonable in cost - the guys at INDI can be that one stop shop.“ The most consistent wedge is based on the standard deviations of carry and dispersion area. The objective is to identify the wedges that most consistently hit their distance numbers. Similarly, illegal wedges with specially engineered face textures can offer a heightened level of grip on the ball, making it easier to execute complex shots that might be more challenging with a conforming club. In short, these clubs can make certain aspects of the game easier, potentially lowering your score and increasing your enjoyment on the course.

Indi wins outright with lower launch angle as promised, and quite a bit more spin.” Adding “If a player wants to be able to spin a wedge, then Indi is definitely worth a look” Are these good wedges for chipping? Oh my word yes!! I think the forgiving nature of these beauties helps a lot with that.” In the golfing world, the terms “illegal” or “non-conforming” are used to describe equipment that does not meet the stringent standards set by the sport’s governing bodies. Well, there’s one difference. They actually decided to design a wedge to make it easier for us weekend warriors to replicate what the Pros can do on the golf course.

Are You MEASURING Your Golf Swing Correctly? (This Can Help)

Tester Nunfa0 being a lefty had a bit less in terms of options, but was aptly fit into a INDI FLX S 52, 56, 60 combo with their progress grinds. The wedges came with the Dynamic Gold Spinner 115 Wedge shafts. They’re really no different than you and me. Guys that just want to go out on the weekend and enjoy themselves on a golf course. Enter the world of illegal or non-conforming golf wedges. These are wedges that do not meet the specifications laid down by golf’s governing bodies. While they may offer advantages like extra spin or improved control, they come with a catch: you can’t use them in official tournaments. This testing opportunity will be limited to conforming wedges only but is available to golfers worldwide who are either left- or right-handed!
