Description

For those who prioritize true bypass functionality, the Donner Circle Looper’s power-off process may be a minor inconvenience. If seamless power-off is crucial for your setup, you may want to explore alternatives with this feature. Advanced Arrangement Features JOYO O.M.B R-06 R is a great looper and drum machine pedal with 40 minutes of total recording time, unlimited overdubs, and 49 different drum grooves from 7 different genres.

The pedal also supports SD cards which you can upgrade to have more space for recording in the stompbox. It can also be connected to a computer like the Donner for importing and exporting recorded files. The footswitches control the activation of the looper functions, and the drum machine, and can be used independently of each other. The left footswitch activates loop recording and dubbing, while the right is used to stop and start the drums, and to save, recall, or clear recorded loops. In my opinion, the Donner Circle Looper Pedal has earned its place as a versatile and valuable tool for musicians and guitarists. The Donner Circle Looper kind of looks like an off-brand Boss RC-10R in terms of layout. It’s just a little flatter and with a friendlier-looking color scheme. It measures 99 by 121 mm (4 by 4 and 3/4 inches), which makes it much more compact than many loopers out there. In fact, it’s even a little smaller than the RC-10R. Despite whether you use the Donner Circle or Boss RC-5 looper, you’ll have input for an expression or sustain pedal. Useful if you plan on using this looper in a live setting!!

It is a highly portable looper pedal that weighs around 0.86 Ibs (0.39 kg) and has measurements of 4.76” (12.1 cm), 2.22” (5.6 cm), and 3.9” (9.9 cm). It won’t take much space on your pedalboard, which is a great plus for crowded pedal setups. It is not a professional-level looper pedal, and the sound quality and the variations of drum patterns are not suitable for professional live performances. However, for small live performances, Flamma FS21 can get the job done. But if you want a live gig looper pedal and a drum machine, you might want to look at the higher-end models. Although Flamma FS21 sounds amazing for home practice and amateur settings, it would hardly satisfy the player for professional use. Where To Place The Flamma FS21 On The Pedal Board?

Of course, there are some letdowns, like there is no volume level adjustment for the looper, but these can be overcome with different solutions. For the price, you can not expect everything to be perfect. The drum machine, which features around 100 patterns from 10 different music styles, also sounds quite realistic with an organic feeling. They are perfect for practices or amateur concerts, but of course, they are not for professional use. When weight is concerned, the Donner looper is significantly heavier – at 265g the Nux is over 100g lighter!! However, the Donner takes the lead when it comes to foot-switches & overall control. While the RC-5 has 1 single foot-switch, the Circle has 2 (4 counting the control knobs which also function as buttons).

One issue people run into is with the levels of the drums and the loop. You have to set the drums quite low to really hear both the drums and yourself through an amp. You can basically get this tailored to your amp and then leave it, but it’s a bit of a nuisance at first. It doesn’t help that you have to switch “mode” constantly while tweaking this rather than just having dedicated “Level” dials. A substantial metal build is something you get with both loopers. Although, we’d say the Donner feels the most sturdy of the two. #JustSaying As with the other donner pedals we’ve tested, there was no battery power, with a 9v DC input being the only way to run this unit. Note that there is no power supply included with this model. Foo-switches aside, the Trio has 6 volume-type adjustment knobs, whereas the Donner makes do with just 2.Sounds minor, but trust us, if you have big feet (like us) – it’s important! The foot-switches on the Circle are a good distance apart, so there’s a slim change of you pressing the wrong one by mistake. A godsend for gigging!! For me its all about simplicity, and if a pedal that’s a 1/4 of the price brings me the same satisfaction and fun I thinks its worth mentioning why. I’m going to let my readers and students at learn guitar cafe know. As an experienced guitarist and someone deeply immersed in the world of music, I have had the privilege of exploring a wide range of gear and equipment. The Donner Circle Looper Pedal has certainly left a lasting impression, and here are compelling reasons why you should consider adding it to your collection. Versatility Unleashed Just like the Donner Circle Looper, the Trio+ also works with 24-bit processing, but I can indeed say the sound quality of the looper and the band creator is better than the Donner Circle Looper’s quality. But the sound quality difference is not big and easily noticeable.

Connecting an external expression pedal is just as easy with the Donner looper as it is with the Digitech. Both these loop stations support external expression/ sustain pedals. Both the Nux & the Donner boast a ‘fade out’ mode. Useful for when you want to smoothly transit in-between loops. A useful tool for when performing live! Audio-wise, the Circle is a real step up! Unlike the Nux Loop Core which has 16bit audio, it boasts 24bit. Impressive!! This looper is pretty much ‘plug-in & play’. There’s no complex software to install or firmware that needs updating every time it’s used. As far as usability goes, it score full marks. In regards to foot-switches, both pedals are made of metal & feel substantial enough to stand on. Neither of these pedals feel cheap by any means. This is a basic pedal for basic needs. It can be a tremendous first looper pedal for home practice. It costs almost the same as Flamma FS21 with similar sound quality but fewer and more limited features. Summary The drum machine also sounds organic and lively. Maybe they are not studio quality, but they get the job done brilliantly. As mentioned before, there are 100 different grooves making the pedal really versatile in terms of the drum machine. The Flamma FS21 Drum Machine Looper Pedal Compared To Other Pedals Flamma FS21 Drum Machine Looper Pedal Vs. Boss RC-5 Loop Station Sound quality is non-negotiable for any serious musician. The Donner Circle Looper Pedal ensures that your recordings and loops are crystal clear, thanks to its 44.1kHz 24-bit recording capability. It faithfully captures the nuances of your playing, ensuring that your musical creations sound as good as they should. Studio-Ready
