Did you know you can get all of the latest news delivered right to you by signing up for our newsletter? You might even be among the first to hear about the next Combat Patrol set, which we’ll be showing off in just one week’s time… Select UnitsFor each box shown on that Detachment, you can select one unit with the required Battlefield Role and add it to that Detachment. You must include at least one unit in this Detachment. Each Elites unit in this Detachment must be different.

With 26 miniatures – the vast majority of which are recent releases – the Aeldari Boarding Patrol will have caught the eye of many collectors. Masterful melee murderers and cramped corridors with lots of nooks and crannies to hide in – can you name a better match? Boarding Patrol: Drukhari contains 20 Wyches, five Incubi, a Succubus, and therefore more deadly blades than you can shake a splinter rifle at. Boarding Patrol: Grey Knights Rad Exposure: As the battle progresses the radiation fallout from the reactor will spread further across the battlefield and its intensity will grow as it does so. The battlefield is divided up into four Sectors, A through D. Starting with Sector A in battle round 1, the radiation will begin to contaminate the battlefield. This set comes with twenty Corsairs (from the old Kill Team set) that can be built as Voidreaver Troops or armed to the nines as Voidscarred Elites. That means you can either use them to provide you with a good firebase or make them specialists, each with their own set of A-Team-like skills. This is hard-hitting force includes three Crisis Battlesuits and a squad of 10 Fire Warriors, who are perfectly suited for close-quarters combat when assembled as a Breacher Team. The battlesuits have numerous short-ranged weapon options, which offer great utility against many different enemy types in tight spaces.

Thrown into a desperate fight for survival amidst a furious three-way war, the T’au are driven to take desperate measures. Their fighting retreat sees them forced to make planetfall on a world that O’Shovah vowed never to set foot upon again. With all other options exhausted, and foes closing in on all sides, the T’au begin a hit-and-run battle amongst the lifeless wastes and eerie ruins of Arthas Moloch itself. Two squads of three highly customisable Tyranid Warriors provide an adaptable, formidable core to claim the Ark. Meanwhile, eight fast-moving Genestealers – fielded as a squad of five – act as an insidious vanguard to a towering Broodlord. This box can be used to assemble a variety of units – the recommended build for Boarding Action games is a Succubus, five Incubi, and two 10-model units of Wyches, each split into a further two squads. If your alignment is slightly more devious, Drukhari might be a better option than normal Eldar. Boarding Patrol: Grey Knights The complete list of what’s available is as follows – all cast in metal: Armageddon Steel Legion Officer with Power Sword, Armageddon Steel Legion Officer with Power Sword and Bolt Pistol, Armageddon Steel Legion Commissar, Armageddon Steel Legion Sergeant, Armageddon Steel Legion Infantry Squad, Armageddon Steel Legion Guardsman with Plasma Gun, Armageddon Steel Legion Heavy Bolter Weapons Team, and Armageddon Steel Legion Lascannon Heavy Weapons Team.

Aeldari warriors emulate the various warlike aspects of Khaela Mensha Khaine in battle, but each Craftworld holds a terrible secret in its heart. There is a chamber which contains an Avatar of Khaine, a molten metal statue which contains a still-living shard of the defeated warrior god. In times of war, this shard is awakened and set aflame. This colossus of battle bestrides the battlefield, a living god that scythes down its foes by the score. Wraithlord The raiding party is led by a Succubus, a supremely skilled duellist and cruel champion of the Wych Cults. The many Wyches they lead are skilled murderers in their own right, combining athleticism and martial skills with an assortment of toxic weapons. A squad of Incubi lends a heavier hand, sweeping through corridors using massive blades wielded with a dedication to the killing arts. This box can be used to assemble a variety of units – the recommended build for Boarding Action games is Castellan Crowe, five Terminators, and two five-man Strike Squads. Snag an exclusive, artist-signed print of Farsight when you buy Arks of Omen: Farsight , Boarding Patrol: T’au Empire, and the Arks of Omen: Farsight Enclaves Dice Set together. Only 300 are available, so act fast.** Boarding Patrol: OrksWith the caveat that to actually save money with these boxes, you have to need every model in the box (which I think will hurt the Grey Knights because of Castellan Crowe–if you want him, you probably already have him.), all of these Boarding Patrol boxes are very good value.

Leading the way is my faction of choice for Warhammer 40,000, the Aeldari. They get themselves a rather fascinating set that features a lot of specialists. That certainly works with the idea of forming a boarding patrol to take down a specific target in the depths of a space hulk. As a relatively high-value box of miniatures, there are some serious savings to be snapped up with the Aeldari Boarding Patrol box. The recommended build for Boarding Action games is Boss Snikrot, five Flash Gitz, and 10 Kommandos and 10 Beast Snagga Boyz, each split into five-model squads.Other groups of Aeldari cling to existence, including the Harlequins – who travel the Webway (an ancient network of safe* tunnels through the warp) acting as diplomats, performers, and mercenaries, and the Ynnari – who worship the half-reborn god of death as a means to finally thwart Slaanesh and recapture the Aeldari souls it ate during the Fall. Vashtorr the Arkifane’s quest for the Key-fragments is nearing its end, and the action turns to the dead world of Arthas Moloch in the fourth chapter in the epic narrative series, Arks of Omen: Farsight . Commander Farsight is just preparing to wrap up the vicious War of Dakka once and for all, when calamity strikes and his entire operation is jeopardised by the arrival of the Unhallowed space hulk and its Balefleet entourage. There are many elite units which excel at one battlefield role, rewarding an observant commander who can be flexible on the fly. Harlequins must be used with even more precision – they’re faster and deadlier yet as they caper across the warzone, but their only real armour is surprise. One or more units from your army can start to perform this action at the end of the Move Units step of your Movement phase if they are within 1" of a Hatchway. This action can be performed by any unit that is not within Engagement Range of any enemy models, even if that unit is being affected by a rule that would normally prevent it from performing actions. The action is completed at the end of your Movement phase if no enemy models are within 1" of that Hatchway. If there are any enemy models within 1" of that Hatchway, your opponent can attempt to prevent the action from being completed. If they do so, roll off with your opponent; each player adds the Strength characteristic of one of their models that is within 1" of that Hatchway to their respective scores. If you win, the action is completed; otherwise, the action fails. If completed, that Hatchway opens (if it was closed) or closes (if it was open).

On the talk of upgrades, let’s talk about the Corsairs. You can take both variants into battle with this box – either 10 Voidscarred and 10 Voidreavers, or as 20 of either option. It’s interesting to see Corsairs as infantry in lieu of Guardians, but it’s thematic and the Corsairs offer high customisability – I could list off what each weapon upgrade and ability does all night long, but the Aeldari race might be entirely extinct by the time we’d finish, so I’d recommend referring to your Codex to build your Corsair options. Few things are as terrifying in a confined space as a Phoenix Lord. Jain Zar leads Boarding Patrol: Aeldari accompanied by five Howling Banshees, as well as 20 Corsair Voidscarred who can be assembled as any one of two different units.Tactically, boarding actions lists are all about navigating the new challenges of a space ship – and each mission brings fresh challenges,” Rich adds. “For example, which unit will you walk through a furnace to score Victory Points, and which unit do you task with guarding the OFF switch for said furnace? Building your ideal Boarding Patrol is the first of many decisions you’ll need to make.” The Aeldari are a long-lived race, but in the aftermath of the Fall, they faced a slow demise, and a horrifying afterlife – for Slaanesh has staked its claim on each Aeldari soul in death. In response, the Asuryani bound themselves to soulstones, which capture their souls at their deaths to prevent Slaanesh from taking them. In times of great need, these soulstones are embedded in wraithbone constructs, so that the dead can bolster the armies of the living. There are many such constructs, including the mighty Wraithlord , the towering Wraithknight , and beyond. Fire Prism The divisive and enigmatic Commander Farsight stands at the head of this assault, blasting through opponents in a blur of blade strikes and blazing fire in search of his prize. Behind him stomp three sleek XV8 Crisis Battlesuits – the ultimate balance of firepower, speed and resilience – and ten Breachers, Fire Warriors who use close-range, high-powered pulse blasters to clear the confined corridors of a space hulk. Some weapons have ‘Blast’ listed in their profile’s abilities. These are referred to as Blast weapons. In addition to the normal rules, the following rules apply to Blast weapons: A cursory glance tells me that the Voidscarred are the more flavourful choice of kit – they have more options concerning loadouts, and cooler models (let’s be honest). That’s to be expected, considering this kit originated from Kill Team: Nachmund – so differing variants in the unit will have unique abilities. For example, the Way Seeker is a psyker, the Shade Runner can give extra mortal wounds after charging and the Felarch can throw his bird at the target, who loses any benefit of cover. Birds are vicious, after all.
