Description

It can be used in conventional workplaces, community groups, faith organisations, sporting clubs as well as other organisations. This book was much more in depth with diversity than the first as it uses real life experiences to emphasize the realities of diversity. Throughout, Bratt provides texts, thorough reference lists, and myriad resources for librarians and educators seeking to not only provide more inclusion in their work but to encourage parents to do the same at home. In the end, his solution is for us all to take off all our clothes and skin and see that we are the same.

Where I think this book falls short, in no small part because it was published in 2005, is in not also taking a hot minute to celebrate race. This text can build knowledge on diversity because it explains that at lot of people judge others based on their race and skin color and this book lets children know that you shouldn't judge someone based on their race and skin color. The book confronts why white people struggle to talk about race, why we need to own this problem, and how we can learn to do the work ourselves and stop expecting Black people to do it for us. Let’s Talk About Race in the Workplace’ is up to date and uncompromising in setting out the facts and thinking around systemic racism in organisations. You can find a number of learning resources in our curated anti-racism resources hub and grow your knowledge on the reality of racism in higher education as well as learn about it’s detrimental impact. Report + Support is UCL’s dedicated platform for reporting harassment, where you can also access advice and support information. Every year we’ve learned, reflected, and refined the program content – always growing and striving to do better. What and how the history of race in America is presented is an opportunity to engage in thoughtful, respectful, and productive conversations.

It is a thoughtful book with compelling pictures and layered illustrations that encourage reader to linger on each page. Through this online hub, we hope to provide a growing library of online self-education learning resources that can be used by an individual learner no matter where they are on their inclusion and anti-racism learning journey. Karen Barbour's dramatic, vibrant paintings speak to the heart of Lester's unique vision, truly a celebration of all of us. Shajeda shares her lived experience of racism, how this has shaped who she is today, and she talks about how we can create an anti-racist and inclusive working environment. She is also the author of “ The Interracial Adoption Option: Creating a Family Across Race” (2013), “ Imaging in Advertising: Verbal and Visual Codes of Commerce” (2007), and “ Speaking Culturally: Language Diversity in the United States” (2000).We understand that this is a first step in moving towards a more inclusive and welcoming space for all of our members and intend this initiative to open up a conversation that will be difficult and challenging but can enact real change throughout our College community, the University of Cambridge and society at large.
