Having said that, it does seem to be running fine - we did about 650 miles this weekend with no running problems - just a couple of starting issues! You need pathfinder and the correct lead for either the LPG or Diesel engine otherwise you won't be able to access the engine codes if you've just got the standard pathfinder cable. Rather like booting up a computer in Safe Mode, one has top be grateful that the car is running at all.

The flashing glowplug light is, quite commonly, an indicator of a brake light or brake switch problem. Still going to SWICT today and see what it is and still driving with alot of caution as i havent got a clue what it is but i hope its something fairly straight forward! TDI 140 ps on an 09 plate, traded my TT in 2 months ago for it as the TT was getting older and didn't want any problem, so, thought VW diesal, carnt go far wrong?I'm sure that someone with more experience than me (I'm still learning everyday) will be along soon to assist further.

I went in to the service department to ask them about it but of course they wanted to book in for a diagnostic (which I did). I am working on the assumption that if one plug fails, the engine will still start as 5 other cylinders will work and the 6th will get compression from the other 5 turning and so work. Just looked on the lings diagram and the bolt isnt illustrated on the diagram although it goes into the hole just above and slightly right of where the number 15 is on the diagram. Now I am usually good as waiting before starting up so I assume it went iff and came back on but I could have started before it went off. Coil/sparkplug/engine management light comes on and the car goes into limp home mode, this started after I put petrol in it and drive it for 2 mins, it has since been flushed and cleaned (nothing replaced) but I'm now having this problem. Now got my brim back, back to its amazingness, it was a boost sensor that was faulty, the first garage I took it to admitted to resetting the ECU and not replacing the sensor first time round.

Connections between quantity adjuster OB3 (N146) and VW engine control unit (N1:99, N1:106, N1:108, N1:116, N1:121) shorted or faulty. Six weeks later it was bad as ever on cold mornings and the light came on twenty seconds after starting for about thirty seconds. Had the car checked out by an Audi independent and the timing belt was out and luckily no damage to engine.Subject to what the dealer says, and I know it's marginal re the rules, but I would take it for a 15 - 20 mile dual carriageway run keeping the revs up i. One condition when the symbol may be utilised during normal (warmed up) running appears to be associated with DPF faults. ul>[*]Seldom does the glow plug light illuminated during normal running actually mean a problem with the glow plugs themselves. We had the problem this weekend when we were on a long journey and stopped (in a lay-by) to feed the (screaming) baby.
