A lot of useless items in the anime was skipped here, which was nice to see, and I like how the anime sticks to quite a lot of the content in the light novel, which was easy to connect to. It’s one that the author directly intended to make a connection to as well, according to the afterword, and it makes for a pretty interesting story too. Kikyo apologizes to Kiyotaka as Horikita might start hating him due to his role in the plan, but Kiyotaka waves it off, saying that he wanted Horikita to consider the benefits of friendship.too lazy to be detailed, but overall i was a bit disappointed with this book because of how different ayanokoji is from the anime.

Good thing is, there are so many unanswered questions about Ayanokouji that would keep you continue picking up this series, so volume 2, here we go. Ayanokoji Kiyotaka has landed at the bottom in the scorned Class D, where he meets Horikita Suzune, who's determined to rise up the ladder to Class A. In fact, I’d go as far to say that I was emotionally moved by the story told in these first two volumes, in a way that I didn’t expect at all.Shortly afterwards the table next to them opens up as well and Kushida sits down and acts as if she just noticed the two. Tokyo Metropolitan can get students their places in the elite jobs and universities of their dreams--if they can win, barter, or save enough points to work their way up the ranks! Late reply, but because of the issues around alterations in the Seven Seas versions, I read the Japanese volumes.

After talking for a bit they notice the red-haired boy from earlier arguing with the sales clerk due to having forgotten his card. Horikita denies the similarity between them, saying that she was a loner by her own will, whereas Kiyotaka was one due to his inability to make friends. As Ayanokouji and his classmates begin their second year at the Advanced Nurturing High School, they're greeted by a fresh gauntlet of exams and a fresh batch of rather unique first-year students. Kiyotaka clearly does not have enough points to cover that sum on his own, but at that offer, Horikita appears stating that she will also contribute her own points to purchase the test point. Cutting their celebration short, Chabashira draws a new red line on the English score sheet right above Sudō's name, who had gotten a 39 on the exam. While the hints are there from the start, once the truth comes out school and teachers both feel like very real threats to the students. There are all sorts of people who like to pretend that it doesn’t exist, or that you can overcome systemic issues with a little bit of individual effort. seeing how wrong the anime adaptation's perception of Ayanokoji's character made me wish i'd read this a long time ago. Sudō prepares to knock out the student until Honami Ichinose arrives and gets in the middle of the conflict, telling both sides to stop their fighting and threatening to draw over a teacher.

When I was in high school, guys made comments like that all the time, but it made me uncomfortable then, and it still makes me uncomfortable now. So when Ayanokouji steps in with a simple yet self-sacrificial means of solving the problem, it was a big eye-opener for me. She asserts that it must have been a mistake, and it is revealed that Horikita placed third overall on the entrance exams and had top marks in academics outside of the exams. When the possibility is brought up that their expulsion would raise the class average, a part of me genuinely thought, “It’s more efficient to just cut them loose than try to turn them into good students. After class, Kiyotaka invites Horikita to go to Pallet with him after school, and after some convincing, she agrees to go with him. After listening for a little, the older student turns out to be Manabu Horikita, who is confirmed to be her older brother. She then displays the scores the class got on the mock exam a week earlier and laughs at the class for their overall poor scores, adding on that seven of the students would have been expelled for their results should the test have been officially recorded on their report cards.
